Macu Jordá

Inmaculada Jordá Frasquet

Macu was born in Cocentaina (Alicante) in 1965. She studied at the School of Fine Arts and School of Arts and crafts in Alcoi, where she obtained a degree in Graphic Design. She also studied Pictorial Procedures and Mural Techniques at the Llotja School of Applied Arts and Crafts in Barcelona, obtaining a degree in Mural Painting.
She has taught drawing and painting and created textile designs which were shown at the Valencia Textile Fair. She has received several awards for her work in Spain and has made murals and had public and private commissions.
She has exhibited in Spain (Alcoi, Barcelona, Blanes, Cardedeu, Cocentaina, Mataró, Sant Pol de Mar, Vilassar de Dalt and de Mar, Girona, Figueres) and Japan (Johetsu-Niigata and Shimada-Shizuoka). Her work is distributed in private collections in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Florida and Japan.

Macu paints nudes or women dressed in white and vaporous fabrics like muses from Antiquity. Sometimes she only paints fragments or repeats a part of the body giving dynamism and a new dimension to a timeless theme.

The solid backgrounds highlight the richness of the shapes, details and colours that make these bodies throb with life. If we transcend Macu's obvious talent and look beyond, we can find in her works poetry and tenderness as well as tension and mystery.
