Jordi Casamajor

Jordi Casamajor was born in Andorra in 1971. He graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona and currently lives and works in Andorra. He combines his work as a sculptor with teaching.

He has won several prizes for his sculpture but he is most noted for his work using iron.
He has exhibited in various galleries and art centres and has sculptures in Paris, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Vitoria and Katmandu. He also has public monumental works in the Principality of Andorra.

All the work he has created over the years is closely related to and inspired by ancient popular beliefs, ethnological origins and his willingness to recreate and maintain a world and an aesthetic rooted in Primitivism and Symbolism.

This shows especially in these sculptures in polychrome clay, a technique much used in ancient civilizations but that is still used today. It has a natural look, with no glaze or adornments.

Jordi leads us into a forgotten world of imaginary beings, goddesses, centaurs and unicorns, that evoke mysterious but familiar shadows on a painted cave wall, shadows of our origins ...
