Eduard Comellas

Eduard Comellas was born in Barcelona in 1967. He began his career in photography as a lighting assistant in fashion and advertising (six years as photographer's assistant in Miquel Ribot's studio in Barcelona).
Later he made the leap to the world of photojournalism, working for El Periòdic d'Andorra, El Periódico de Catalunya, Avui, El Mundo de los Pirineos, Pyrenees Magazine, El Pais, El Mundo, …

Meanwhile, his personal work went through several stages, documentary being the most prolific, but Eduard rediscovered that essence of light and texture in his photos.

Since 1997 he has lived and worked in Andorra. At the moment he combines teaching (Ordino Comu's art school) with photojournalism and corporate images for institutions, banks, para-public organizations, private companies, hotels, restaurants,...

His inspiration stems from American photography of the 60's and 70's with artists such as Stephen Shore, William Eggleston, Lee Friedlander, Robert Adams and Joel Meyerowitz, and above all, Robert Frank.

Solució Salina can be seen as a whole or can be fragmented and looked at image by image. The pictures were taken with a long exposure so as to show the movement and the adjustment of the water to its terrestrial recipient. Eduard captures the essence of the matter, the essence of life in these photos, the physical process of the liquid in its most amniotic role in the development of life.

Solució Salina is the beginning of a new era in Eduard's insistent pursuit of capturing the essence of man through his environment.
